Just like your putter and driver, diesel and gas engines are different, and they require different oil.

  • Dispersant Additives. Diesel engines have a higher amount because Diesel engines are dirtier and they need the oil to disperse contamination more readily
  • Zinc. Diesel engine oil has a higher level of Zinc which is an anti-wear additive. The catalytic converter in the diesel is equipped to deal with Zinc, but the one in your sissy car ain’t
  • Viscosity. Generally, diesels have higher viscosity requirements, although the gap is getting narrower. HD engine oils are now starting to run on 10w-30’s and even 5W-40’s
